The Silo House by Cornell University Students

Stunning modern house design called The Silo House was designed by a team of students from Cornell University in New York as their entry into the 2009 Solar Decathlon, an international competition where various college and university teams compete to design, build and operate the most attractive, effective and energy-efficient solar-powered house. This beautiful house is Fantastic student project. Nice job done by the students as the architects. The detailing and in particular the inetrior detailing is excellent. The idea was to have ‘off the farm’ materials, reusing silo’s from around the NY landscape, but the cornell team had these ’silo’s’ fabricated, at great expense, from nicer looking material, and to a size which is larger than the standard. the house is beautiful. via
