Studio Fuksas, with offices in Rome, Paris, Shenzhen, is led by Massimiliano Fuksas and Doriana O. Mandrelli and has an international staff of about 170 professionals including architects, designers, model makers, landscaper, graphic designer. Studio Fuksas is characterized by an innovative approach combined with experience and interdisciplinary skills internationally consolidated in the design of master plans, housing, offices, shopping malls, infrastructure, cultural complexes, hotels, retail, public building, towers. Recently, this firm has crowned the first winner of the international competition for the first cultural center in the city of Chengdu, the capital of China’s Sichuan province which was hit hard by a terrible earthquake in 2008.

Chengdu Tianfu Cultural and Performance Center - 02

Based on the design proposal of this firm, the brand new Chengdu Tianfu Cultural and Performance Center will be designed four buildings of elliptical shape with a spiral structure. Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas explained that the designed this building is taken and inspired from the ancient symbol of the city of Chengdu (a circle with a sun with rays spiral) and demonstrates the willingness of the Chinese community to look at the future, focusing on art and culture.

This Chengdu Tianfu Cultural and Performance Center building will be the center for the performing arts that houses two theaters and a music hall, a cultural center that includes a theater and an exhibition gallery, offices Writer and Literary Association, an apartment building for artists.
