William Jessup University’s newly constructed student apartment building recently won an Award of Honor from the American Institute of Architects San Joaquin Chapter. The organization awards buildings and architects that are contributors to a high quality and standards of excellence.
As part of the AIA San Joaquin’s bi-annual awards program, eligible projects and architects from the region are submitted for award consideration. The Award of Honor is based on excellence in design.
Providing a holistic approach to design and delivery, the five-story apartment complex was designed by Taylor Teter Partnership, an architectural firm in Fresno. The firm is also credited with preserving the original conversion of the Herman Miller Furniture factory, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, to the existing Rocklin based campus design seen today.
The state-of-the-art, 192-bed apartment building contains 24 total apartments, each with four fully furnished bedrooms and two baths. The eight person suites are approximately 1,420 square feet in size.
Apartment amenities include a full kitchen with new appliances, wireless internet and basic television service, central air and heating, a 100 space two-story parking garage, multiple laundry facilities and a courtyard ample for community gatherings and barbeques.
This is the second award that WJU has received from AIA’s San Joaquin Chapter. The other was in 2006 for the renovation of the Herman Miller Furniture factory to the existing WJU campus.
