Sitec Grand Design for Wind Turbine

The first residential Skyrota vertical axis wind turbine installation by Cambridge-based, Sitec Infrastructure Services Ltd, is to be featured on a forthcoming episode of Channel 4s ‘Grand Designs’.

The unique two-blade vertical axis turbine, which is designed for use in urban and rural locations and can collect wind from all directions, was recently installed within the garden of Dr Jonathan Belsey’s new home, ‘The Radian Project’ in Boxford, Sudbury.

The 5kW rated turbine from Skyrota was installed as one of the property’s renewable energy technologies and will provide sufficient energy to help power the privately owned 175 sq meter single story building. With increased interest in renewable energy production the unique design of the wind turbine is set to be an important feature within the program, which is presented by Kevin McCloud.

The Skyrota wind turbine features a unique gearbox system developed by Richard Chadwick and was featured on BBC’s ‘Dragons Den’. The result in an extremely efficient and quiet turbine, which can collect wind from all directions to provide renewable energy to properties in domestic, commercial and industrial settings alike.
