This anchient Bulgarian city from the time four centurys before Christ, was built below the water level of the huge lake it resides in.
It isn’t an island, a large dam was originally built around the city, when one of the Dams broke the city was flooded and was not discovered until 1948 during the construction of a new dam, when the lake filled up in 1954 the city dissapeared under water, 20 meters of water.
A large ammount of money is being put towards “Excavating” Suthopolis, which means building a new dam around the city, and turning it into a large tourist attraction.
