One of the more spectacular 70s chairs is Frank O. Gehry’s cardboard chair, Wiggle Side Chair, which is made out of 60 layers of closely compressed corrugated cardboard. The chair was actually an experiment, but at its unveiling in 1972 interest was so overwhelming that Gehry re-called the chair shortly afterwards for fear of becoming better known as a furniture designer than as an architect when architecture was his real passion.
