Chris Elliott Architects, the Sydney, Australia based architectural firm has designed so many great project including residential and commercial project over past 10 years. Being selected as the one of five finalist in the international competition for federation square in Melbourne in 1997 made this architectural firm work harder and harder to create the better design project of them. Chris Elliott Architects also won several awards trough their design project. And here is one of their latest project building the Seacliff House located in in Sydney, Australia. Just like the name ‘Seacliff House’, this excellent design modern house sitting on the cliff of the sea, in a long and very narrow situation. The design of this house is to maximize the spectacullar view of the ocean, the adjacent park and the sandstone cliffs and headland to the south. in designing this seacliff house.
Chris Elliott Architects did not try to struggle against this difficult site. but they tries to maximize the natural site of this thin sliver of land that was left over from the original subdivision when the famous “Bronte Cutting” was created over a century ago. Structurally, a long concrete box (the bedroom level) sits atop a series of concrete columns that run from the basement up through the living level. A compact solid core provides stability and contains a stair, bathroom, fridge, cupboards and pantry whilst creating only a minimal visual obstruction. The basement level is conceived as a grotto combining water, rock and light. The solid sandstone foundation stone is carved away to create space. via
