Artisan Precast, based in Los Angeles, offers multiple field-tested products which are available nationwide. As indicated by the Florida contract, the company can provide full turnkey installation at any location across the continent; materials also can be shipped to the specified site for the customer to install. Clients can choose from a variety of fencing styles molded to resemble the warm looks of crafted wood or hand-laid brick or the rich appearance of real stacked ledge stone. All these fencing solutions are carefully engineered at NPCA-certified facilities, yet designed with an eye toward reducing carbon impact on the environment.

The construction company chose Artisan as a partner on the Green River Parkway job in November 2009. Stuart, the county seat of Martin County, is located on Florida’s Treasure Coast and forms part of the Port St. Lucie metropolitan area. Martin County is constructing the Green River Parkway as an alternative to congested U.S. Highway 1. This Florida highway project showcases 7’ high FenceStone®, the Artisan designer product that sets the gold standard in concrete fencing, calling for 5,740 LF of stone-look FenceStone® in beautiful Sandstone color.

The Green River Parkway project also points up the durability of precast concrete walls in the full scope of weather conditions. Artisan products are reinforced with steel and manufactured under optimally engineered conditions to provide consistent long-lasting quality. Since the color is integrated into the mix, no painting is required, and there will be no chipping, peeling, or sun damage. The changing Florida sunlight will naturally enhance the FenceStone®’s textural definition for a stunning, authentic visual effect.

Precast concrete walls are installed using a pier system. Holes are bored into which posts are set and then monolithic concrete is poured to hold the posts in place. Wall or fence panels are fit between the posts. On the Green River Parkway, crews faced problems posed by Florida soil conditions which caused the footing to cave in repeatedly. Artisan has succeeded in solving these issues, allowing them to deliver on schedule with a February 2010 completion date.

Highway walling is only one of the myriad uses to which precast concrete solutions may be applied. For more information, visit www.artisanprecast.com.
