Pantone 2010 Color Direction for Home Furnishings and Interior Design

Pantone, an X-Rite company, and the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, announced PANTONE®VIEW home + interiors 2010, the eight most directional color palettes, plus an additional palette of tinged neutrals, for 2010 home furnishings and interior design.

“Color trends are not conjured up using a crystal ball. They are the result of much observation of our surrounding natural world as well as the influences that will impact our world in the future,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “These factors include socioeconomic issues, technology, lifestyles and playstyles, diversions, entertainment, and most importantly, the needs, moods, fantasies and aspirations of consumers. The palettes featured in PANTONE VIEW home + interiors 2010 translate these influences into appropriate styling, colors and combinations that best express the gamut of directional themes for 2010.”

PANTONE VIEW home + interiors 2010 is a forecasting tool that provides color and trend inspiration, enabling designers to select the right shades and combinations when creating products for home and interior spaces. PANTONE VIEW home + interiors 2010 contains 4” x 1” swatch cards of each of the 78 forecasted colors – along with visual inspiration and color harmonies for each of the individual palettes – in one convenient binder. CMYK printing equivalents are supplied to accurately reproduce the forecasted colors in marketing materials, in-store signs and packaging.

The eight palettes for 2010 are Greenmarket, Resourceful, Transformations, Ambiance, Gatherings, Galaxy, High Definition and Pastiche. An additional palette of Tinged Neutrals is also included. More information available at www.pantone.com.

Yes…color trend is very useful and important as the first thing we notice is color also when we shop for home textiles…we tend to buy them keeping in mind the wall color and of course our mood, lifestyle which we are best able to express through colors…that’s why a good designer will always make a good combination retaining the characteristic feature of the client’s imagination or demand.
