Atlantic Realty Companies, Inc., one of the largest commercial real estate developers in the Washington, DC/Baltimore, MD region, recently announced that Ollie’s Bargain Outlet has signed a lease for 33,000 square feet at Columbia East Marketplace in Columbia, MD. The store is planning to open in Spring of 2009.
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is the Mid-Atlantic’s largest retailer of closeout, surplus, and salvage merchandise. Their 69 stores in eight states “sell merchandise of all descriptions and some beyond description.” Much of the merchandise comes directly from manufacturers, and Ollie’s buyers scour the globe for name brand closeouts, overstocks, package changes, and manufacturer refurbs.
“Ollie’s is a popular place, especially these days, with their huge variety of goods at bargain prices,” says David A. Ross, President, Atlantic Realty Companies, Inc. “We are pleased that we were able to entice them to open a store at Columbia East Marketplace.”
Atlantic Realty recently completed an eight million dollar renovation on the center that was originally built in the 1980’s. With 33,000 square feet, Ollie’s will be the largest store in the center that also includes My Organic Market, Starbucks, Maaco, Jerry’s Subs & Pizza, Kids First Swim Schools, Panda Express, Rita’s Ice Cream and more. Columbia East Marketplace is located at the intersection of Rts. 1 and 175 in Columbia, MD, one-half mile from I-95.
“We have looked for a location in Columbia for years,” says Jerry Altland, Vice President Real Estate for Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, “and Columbia East Marketplace turned out to be the a perfect combination of good demographics of nearby residents, a large enough retail space that was available, an extremely accessible location just off of I-95, and a landlord who wanted to make it happen. The Atlantic people were flexible, experienced and professional.”
