Morton College Library Renovation A 19,000-square-foot library renovation by Legat Architects engages students on a social and academic level. Upgrades to the library, located in Cicero, Illinois, include improved access to technology, group study rooms, a cyber cafe, an academic resource room, and removal of stacks and furniture to fill the library with natural light. High interaction spaces are grouped off the entry on the first floor, while individual study spaces on the upper level are separated from the activity below. A perforated metal ceiling beginning in the lobby sweeps into the second story of the atrium. This feature identifies the entrance, visually connects the two levels of the library, and provides a more human scale.
