Wooden loft ladders (sometimes referred to as timber loft ladders) offer some advantages over the more common aluminum ladders. In the winter a loft can become very cold and you will find that a metal ladder will feel very cold on your hands, where a wooden ladder will still be cold it will not conduct heat away from your hands and feet so quickly. Wooden ladders also tend to be quieter in use than a metal ladder. All of these considerations only really come into effect if you are accessing the loft on a regular basis, if you only need to access the loft once every few months then a cheaper aluminum ladder will most likely meet your needs.
