Koby Cottage by Garrison Architects

Koby Cottage is located in Albion, Michigan, and it is designed by Garrison Architects, the architect, interior architect and design practice. This Koby cottage is actually designed for the client as a guest house for themselves when they are visiting their children at Starr Commonwealth, a nonprofit organization in Michigan. The organization’s services range from foster care to residential treatment and in-home counseling programs that help young adults learn to live independently.

The design of this Koby Cottage itself is so minimalist and simple, it is designed into two volumes, two diagonal intersecting axes centered around the dining room table as a meeting place for the family. the first axis contain the all family member’s sleeping room, and the second one incorporates the public entry hall and living room, runs through the building in a diagonal pathway which culminates in the expanded volume of the living room and expansive views of the lake beyond.
