The House S is a contemporary Japanese house located in a quiet residential area in a center of Tokyo, Japan. This former samurai house is designed by Keiji Ashizawa, The Japanese architect, interior architect, furniture and lightning designer. This simple, minimalist yet stunning house is a cul-de-sac, removed from the main thoroughfares, so their are old pine and zelkova trees in the area. Such surroundings, even in the midst of the city, significantly impacted the design.
What makes this house seems so amazing is Most of the design details were developed specifically for this house, with this overall purpose in mind, down to handles, steps and windows. In designing this house S, Keiji Ashizawa put many gardens on each floor of the house to bring the natural and green surrounding to the house. The first floor is the more public place, the second room is the private place and the rooftop is designed to be outdoor living place to enjoy the city view and gather with the family member.
