Altus Group’s CarbonCast insulated wall panels use epoxy-coated carbon-fiber trusses that allow thinner concrete skins, reducing cement use and increasing the amount of insulation that can be accommodated in a given wall thickness.

The panels can be made with a variety of insulations, including EPS and mineral wool, providing R-values ranging from R-8 to R-30. (XPS insulation should be avoided until it has been reformulated to eliminate the ozone-depleting HCFC-blowing agent.) It should be noted that bisphenol-A, a component of epoxy, is part of this product’s lifecycle.
