S.J. Morse Company, manufacturer of custom architectural wood-veneer panels, is now offering fire-rated panels with FSC-certified veneers and cores. The cores, made with PyroBlock from Panel Source International, have an intumescent coating that expands and chars when subjected to heat, insulating and protecting the substrate from fire.
Polyvinyl acetate (PVA, or white glue) is used to bond the veneers to the core. FSC must be specified. Most of S.J. Morse’s core options use 100 percent pre-consumer recycled content and binders that contain no added urea-formaldehyde. S.J. Morse Company; Capon Bridge, WV. www.sjmorse.com; 304-856-3423.
