EMCOR Group, Inc., a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses, announced that its EMCOR Government Services unit was awarded a contract by the U.S. General Services Administration in Boston that commenced August 1, 2008 to provide full building management services at the John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse in Boston, MA. The contract, which is for an initial period of one year with options to extend for eight successive one-year periods, would have a total value to EMCOR Government Services of more than $20 million.

EMCOR Government Services is responsible for a wide range of building management services at the 946,500 square foot Courthouse facility, including operations and maintenance, energy management, elevator maintenance, boat dock maintenance, janitorial work, and management of the public realm program, which permits the public to use the space for art exhibits, functions, and educational programs.

Named after the late Congressman John Joseph Moakley, the Courthouse was dedicated in 1998 to serve as the headquarters for the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States Attorney and the United States Marshals Service. Owned by the U.S. General Services Administration and located on a waterfront site on Fan Pier, the eleven-floor facility sits on 4.5 acres of public open space along the Boston waterfront.

“We are proud to serve the Moakley Courthouse—-a magnificent structure with a prime location overlooking the Boston skyline. It is our honor to be managing the required elements involved in creating an efficient judicial environment and facilitating a space in which public participation is recognized, encouraged and enriched,” said Michael Shelton, President of EMCOR
