Elero’s Econom 0 is a maintenance-free electric linear actuator for active facade systems that control building heating loads and glare, and improve occupant viewscapes. These stainless-steel-clad, weather-resistant actuators are appropriate for outdoor or indoor use, and can also contribute to natural ventilation systems. Proven in Europe and Asia for many years, but new to the North American market, the slender devices—less than 2 1?2 inches in diameter—have load-bearing capacities of as much as 675 foot-pounds. The Econom 0 is manufactured by the German company Elero GmbH, which specializes in drive units and control systems for roller shutters, sun protection systems, and gates.
