Uponor (formerly Wirsbo) is now offering the D’Mand Hot Water Delivery System. Actuated by a push button or motion sensor at the point of use, a pump quickly delivers hot water to a fixture while sending the tepid water that’s been sitting in the pipes back to the hot-water tank.

It’s switched off by a temperature sensor at the fixture. In addition to saving water, it saves energy, especially compared with continuous-circulation or timer-based hot-water loops.
