As part of a big resort for developer Housing Corporation VANKE, they plan to make a pretty rad mash-up pavilion for a bicycle club in the Hainan Province in southern China. They choose NL Architects, Dutch architectural firm based in Amsterdam, to be the partner in realizing this plan. In doing the project, NL Architects continues to set the theme and the social life, partly performative possibilities of architecture and city apart and are exploring potential of how individuals interact in the urban environment and can become active. After examining the proposal from this architectural firm, seems like VANKE agree and they give the green light for NL Architects! Looks like this will actually get build soon.
This Bike Club Pavilion is part of a big resort in Southern China that we are currently involved in, and what NL Architects got to do is designing the pavilion that accommodate bike rental and a cafe. and the design should be tropical climate friendly. The elegant curvature of the steeply banked oval bike track creates an optimistic gesture; eaves curled upward: a surprisingly functional pagoda. via
