Employees and Sales Associates at real estate brokerage firm, Baird & Warner, are readying for their annual participation in “Make A Difference Day,” the nation’s largest community service campaign.
Throughout the month of October, Baird & Warner offices are collecting new and gently used coats and other warm clothing — (hats, scarves, mittens and gloves) — for men, women, and children in need. On Sat., Oct. 25, company personnel will be out volunteering in their respective communities for “Make A Difference Day,” and on Sun., Oct. 26, all Baird & Warner Open Houses will accept donations of new and gently-used warm clothing by the public. (Visit http://www.bairdwarner.com to find a list of open houses on Sun., Oct. 26.)
“These are historic times, with the global financial crisis on everyone’s mind,” says Jennifer Alter Warden, president, Baird & Warner Residential Sales. “One common thread throughout our company’s history has been the importance of helping the communities in which we live and work in a very real and meaningful way.” Baird & Warner has been in business since 1855 — having survived other historic events from the Great Chicago Fire in 1871 to the Great Depression, civil rights, equal housing battles, and more.
In 1996, USA Weekend Magazine and the Paul Newman Foundation honored Baird & Warner with the national Make A Difference Day Award. The company’s charitable initiative, the Baird & Warner Good Will Network, has donated over 1 million dollars since its inception in 2002 to area non-profit organizations, with a special emphasis on those that work with the homeless.
Baird & Warner is Illinois’ largest and the nation’s oldest independent real estate brokerage; the firm’s website http://www.bairdwarner.com is continually rated as the “#1 Real Estate Website in Chicagoland.”
